Remember to save your post as drafts first and check if it’s marked as EXPLICIT.
Okay guys, I put my coding skills to use and attempted to figure this crap out. Alright, those of you who are getting your gifset “flagged”, there’s a way you can check if your post is being flagged or not through drafts.
This is a flagged post of mine. Read through the HTML:
On a regular post, it looks like this:
On explicit posts the code says:
{”classification” “explicit”, “status”; “none”}}
On posts that are not flagged, it looks like this:
“classification-status”:null)”
The question is how to do you check? Well first off, you need to be familiar with inspect element. You will go around the top of the post, right click and then go to inspect element. Then, you will go above the post and it will have the classification/post details, read through the code until you get to the classification variable and it should tell you whether or not that post is going to be marked!
I hope this helps anyone who is struggling with this problem.

Information that tumblr just straight up refused to provide to its userbase at all.
Unsurprisingly to those of us watching this website deteriorate over the last year, this full content purge and ban has been in progress for a solid 6 months. The date got moved up because of the child porn thing, but it was always coming for us.
Equally unsurprising: Tumblr’s management and ownership are absolutely destroying the actual staff working on it. The company has been hemoragghing senior staff without so much as a token attempt to keep them in place. So the drops in site quality are real, and wil probably only be getting worse.
Truly astonishing is the fact that apparently this crap was supposed to “double” the userbase by the end of next year. Boy, howdy, that’s not gonna work out well for them.

This is a really thorough article. The porn ban being an effect of FOSTA/SESTA was one of the first things I wondered about, and it seems like probably that played a role, but bottom line it seems like there is just a whole lot of corporate shittery going on at Tumblr HQ.
Please don’t fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All that’s going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.

This is blatantly untrue
Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.
Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to regain their users/customers. That’s why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you don’t believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)
Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,
DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.

controversial but in my many years as a minor on tumblr i’ve never seen a single sex worker. they always block minors, mark their blogs as nsfw, and don’t spam the popular sfw tags. even if you, as a minor, actually look for them, as long as you listed your age truthfully in the registration, you won’t be able to find them.
what i, instead, saw as a minor was:
porn bots (which could be stopped by: captcha, double confirmation for accounts, not allowing url shorteners, not allowing rebloggers to delete captions, i would even be ok with hyperlinks not being allowed in reblogs)
fetishes and kinksters (which could be stopped by: adding more tags to the nsfw filter, including fetishes/kinks that appear as sfw)
people who forget tag their shit (which could be stopped by: an auto-tagging system for sensitive tags that would work similarly to the current block for apparently nsfw posts, but can give the op the option to delete incorrect tags)
pro-ana, pro-mia, romanticization of self-harm (which could be stopped by: banning the whole tag, as it just happened)
nazi, terfs (just kick them out for hate speech like twitter does)
pro-map thankfully only appeared once i was already past 18 but of course you could just ban the whole community + tag as it just happened.
prevent usernames with words that hate and pedophilic groups use to flag from being chosen at blog creation.
while i know that tumblr is a 13+ website, nsfw content was hidden from minors last year. most cp was deleted + outlawed (both irl and drawn) for good not even last month. and while those are recent changes they did make tumblr, overall, 13+ appropriate.
i do not care much for porn, i just feel like they are solving the problem the wrong way and punishing a group of people who did nothing to harm minors. there were smarter solutions to this problem that were ignored in the favor of a very sloppy solution that doesn’t even cover stuff like sfw kink blogs, porn bots who don’t post pictures (most of them), people who just won’t tag their nsfw, hate groups and other non-sex related communities who are extremely dangerous for minors.
Honestly I’ve been an adult the entire time I’ve been on tumblr and even I’ve never come across a sex worker blog. In fact, I wasn’t even really aware they were a big thing on the site until very recently. Obviously they’re running their blogs responsibly.
Everything else you listed though? You can’t avoid them if you try.
